I'll start this as the snow report thread. We've got about 1-2 inches here in my area which includes Whitnall Park. Palmyra, which is right next to the southern Kettle Moraine ski trails got 5 inches, so there may be someone out there skiing it this morning. Smile

From yesterday afternoon:

In the FWIW column - I did some reconnaissance today looking for new places to ski. In Ozaukee County (WI) Mee-Kwan Golf Course is labled as having XC skiing on the county web page. Welllll .... there are no tracks visible anywhere and several large signs are posted at the parking lot which read: " Course Closed - Keep Off ! "

WTF? Confused

Next stop, Milwaukee County's Brown Deer Park which is listed on their page as having groomed XC skiing. Well, WTF again! There was one chick out skiing in her own tracks, but other than that no sign of any other skiing going on.

Again, FWIW. Maybe save someone else a trip.

I emailed the director of parks for Ozaukee County and it *IS* okay to ski on the Mee-Kwon park golf course:

Cross country skiing is allowed at Mee-Kwon Park and Golf Course. We just ask that people do not XC ski on the greens or other designated areas. Most people will ski around the perimeter of the course and can avoid XC skiing on the greens.

Giddy-up.

Smile

For some reason, this makes me think of an episode of "The Simpsons" where the punch line was an attendant at a (miniature) golf course screaming, "People have soiled our green!"

Well, the rather generous snowfall forecast for the next few days is timed just right. Skied at Minooka Park today and it looks like the park has given up on grooming until it hits. We did get a quick inch of snow this morning, and that really helped a lot. Gonna be lots of digging over the next few days if it plays out like forecast. Smile
